Running Form

This is a pretty good video about running economy. It's a video for Newton shoes, but mostly it just talks about running form. These are the changes I have been able to incorporate into my running over the last year, becoming a mid-foot/forefoot striker, wearing a minimalist shoe and having better running posture. It can be a long process depending on where you're coming from, but I think it has helped my running a lot.

I've been working on the POSE method. Since I've hurt my ankle/foot, I have not been able to do anything.

Have you tried the Newton Shoes?
Better yet, have you tried the Nike Lunar Trainers? Much like the Nike Free's but you can wear them like regular running shoes even at high mileage.

I ended up buying 2 pairs of Nike Waffle Racers at Jeffersonville outlet two weeks ago for the POSE training. We'll see how they work out.

So. are you buying the Newtons?

I've got the forefoot thing down, but never tried the Newtons before. Have you ever seen them for sale?

Happy trails,

I haven't tried the newtons or the lunar trainers. I don't like the frees because they still have a huge heel. I ran my first marathon in Nike Frees.

I've wanted to try to nike waffles, but I really like my sacouny xc's.

I won't be buying the Newtons, I've mastered the forefoot strike after much laboring, and the Newtons still look like a lot more shoe than I want, not to mention a lot more shoe than I want to PAY for!! those things are a few hundred bucks!

I think I've found my shoe in the Sacouny Kilkenny xc's. They are almost as light as Vibrams (6oz) and offer no support or heel, just a slab of rubber for a little bit of protection on the trails and some traction, perfect! I haven't had any knee problems since I finally mastered the forefoot strike. I still have a ways to go before I would be able to run a 100 miler in them, but I'm going to test them out for Tecumseh. I'll see you there in a few weeks!

Good luck at JFK!!

I dropped out of the challenge, school and work got in the way. I only made it past day 12. The other guys are still going strong, 18 miles today!
