This is the place where I will pass along the progression of my training in the sport of Ultrarunning and hopefully correspond with fellow Ultrarunners.
I am an Ultrarunner. I started running in 2006 and finished my first 100 miler in June '07. I am looking forward to a lifetime of running, and can't imagine how I have lived this long without it.
I went to Daniel Boone National Forest this weekend with the intentions of hiking the 65 mile Red Bird Crest trail. I got off course somewhere along the way and ended up hitch-hiking back to my car. I think I made it about 40 miles. It was an experience. Hiking with a big pack is hard work!

Josh, Are you using a full internal frame pack or a fastpack style backpack? I am looking for a fastpack b.p. that would be good for my Yosemite plans in May. Let me know.
That's the pack I use. It's a Northface Terra 30. It's not a huge pack, and you can do some running with it, just depends on how heavy you make it. I have a very compact sleeping bag, tent and sleeping pad, which I can fit inside of the pack, but that doesn't leave much room for anything else. I attached the sleeping bag to the outside and had my tent, sleeping pad, food, and water bladder inside. It is very padded in the shoulders and back, and has good chest and waist straps, and four other small compartments for misc. stuff.
Rob,
I must have looked like a hobo (heck, I am a hobo) I was walking down the road for 3 hours with my thumb out before someone picked me up.
That is a cool pack. It seems to be the right size for what I am looking for. When I go out to Yosemite, I am not sure I will be fast packing with full camping gear or not. I don't have all the logistics down yet. Thanks for the info.

I wish I could have been the one to pick you up. LOL That had to have been a sight!

Nick,
Sorry, that link doesn't get you to the actual pack. You'll be able to find if from the Dick's website.

Ok Josh are you on another vacation. I know I'm bad about blogging right now but you have been more tardy than me.
