This is the place where I will pass along the progression of my training in the sport of Ultrarunning and hopefully correspond with fellow Ultrarunners.
I am an Ultrarunner. I started running in 2006 and finished my first 100 miler in June '07. I am looking forward to a lifetime of running, and can't imagine how I have lived this long without it.
I've been having issues with my left shin/lower leg for a couple months now. Before it would only hurt when I ran hard and would subside after a day or so. Now it seems to hurt all the time. I took three days off then ran last night and it was still hurting, so I think I'm going to have to see a doctor about it. It's not a huge deal but I think it may be getting worse.

Josh, hope it nothing serious, but def wise to check into it...sooner the better. If you want a doctor's opinion before you go, go to www.verticalrunner.com and click the "ask a doc" link. Dr Nilesh Shah, head of Summa Sports Med, is a runner and very good doctor. Good luck with that.
Nilesh is very good. The first question I have is if you know whether or not one leg is stronger than the other? My guess is the hurting leg is stronger and does more than it's share, so is suffering. When you feel good, not fatigued, go to a gym and do different leg lifts single legged and see which side is stronger.
This is something I got somewhere from reading about Scott Jurek...
Hang in there. Injuries suck. Ice the hell out of it of you can.
Ice and I have become great friends over the years.
If possible, go to a Sports Med Doctor who is a runner themselves. This made a world of difference when I went. My regular doctor told me to stop running.
Hi, I hope your leg feels better. I agree with everyone -- runner doc for sure.
did you see the mens finish at chicago? Ivuti and Gharib. talk about the crowd getting more than they asked for.
I was just looking at your races and saw that you were at Last Chance too. You must be friends with my friend Mark. I can't imagine there were that many marks there. what a cold day...
Hey, Check out Norwood Chiropractic. Dr. Sophie Broduer is a Tri lady and is compassionate, understanding and understands training through pain. She had me up and running pain free in a day.(Shin splints and achilles)
FYI and just an option but she is the bomb. Tell her I sent ya.

Make sure you tell the doctor you are an ultra running freak...this tends to clear up a few issues right off the bat. Hope it is nothing serious

Josh,
Sounds like sound advise from some damn good runners! It is the off season. See the doc and RICE.
