My legs felt better today. I still have shin splints, but my quad didn't hurt. I didn't want to push my luck, so I stopped after 2 miles.

100 push-ups
100 sit ups
100 squats

good work playing it safe. I hear you on the frustration of shorter runs. Glad the quads did okay though!
